About Us

In April of 2007 I created a algae photo bio reactor project for this sites sister site inventgeek.com. While at the time when I did our first project out of genuine interest there was no way I could have ever guessed that it would become such a popular topic and article that I would become inspired to make a whole site dedicated to algae and reactor design.

This site is a record of a journey for me and my experiments. I am a person that firmly believes that if you’re going to have an opinion that is worth something you damn well better back it up. So with this in mind I have moved forward with new reactor designs and I am constantly improving design and technology to make a better reactor. Fortunately here in Salt Lake I have some wonderful friends that are equally as passionate if not more so than I am about algae and reactors. While this site is dedicated to my local friends it’s a gift as well to the world.

No project you find on this site will be perfected. The goal is to create projects that prove concepts, materials, techniques and ideas that can be reproduced and improved upon by anyone. I am not an expert; there are all sorts of smarter people with more background in the algae and engineering in this world than me. And more or less you can expect a project with flaws in its designs, partly correct information and miss spellings with bad grammar. But you will find complete how to articles with myself being the alpha project to reduce the risk of trying this yourself and hopefully giving you a greater chance of succeeding.

Thus declaring my non-expertness feel free to contact us and share your thoughts, ideas, projects, successes and failures. I love to create a community of collaboration and I hope this grows into a place that anyone can come and learn.

And now the shameless plug… These projects take a lot of research and experimentation. I research materials, ideas, construction techniques and do my best to create the most cost effective ways of creating projects. This takes a lot of time, energy and money. Throughout the site I have links for donations. These are in place because most of the people that come to this site disable advertisements with browser plug-in. Please help keep this site around. Donate if you feel you can afford it. We have some grandiose projects coming this spring with goals of making some genius book records and we will need help to get the work done.
